Il Salone del Mobile di Milano, known as the Milan Furniture Fair, is the global reference point for the interior design sector. Its numerous exhibitors and over 300,000 visitors recognize its significance as a major event that has been an exclusive platform for promoting their products and services since 1961. The fair also has a strong international presence, aiming to further spread the quality of Italian furniture, as demonstrated by the presence of over 150,000 foreign visitors. Among the exhibitors is Plank, a historic company that has been producing and selling chairs, armchairs, lounge seating, table systems, stools, and furnishings since 1893.
Plank and Act Events share a similar philosophy, which involves studying and analyzing new technological possibilities and integrating them with design principles to create aesthetically unique and functional products. Plank has collaborated with several famous designers, including Konstantin Grcic, Naoto Fukasawa, Björn Dahlström, Ludovica + Roberto Palomba, Biagio Cisotti, and Sandra Laube. The fruits of this collaboration have been recognized with numerous awards, such as the IF Product Design Award Gold selection for the MIURA stool, as well as exhibitions in the permanent collections of the world’s most important museums, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Design Museum in London, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
For the Salone del Mobile, Plank entrusted Act Events with the task of creating a dedicated booth exclusively for the MYTO chair. This was a highly significant and prestigious project considering that the MYTO chair won the XXII Compasso d’Oro Award from the ADI (Association for Industrial Design), the oldest and most authoritative global design award. The challenge was to design an exhibition space that maximized the beauty, sophistication, and elegance of the chair without overpowering it with excessive impact. The challenge was successfully met, and the exhibition area was among the most appreciated and admired throughout the fair.
